Don’t Cry For Me Argentina (part two)

I am sorry that my feeling somehow still lingers around the song and its connotations. The lyric seem to me can really echo the feelings of those families who had to leave HK with their children to countries where freedoms are more available. Many of these families had high hopes before, believing that Hong Kong was still a good place of their own.

Since 2014 it is no longer easy to explain how they feel. In view of the worsening situation in HK, many of these families participated in movements of demanding freedom not to be diluted day by day. Some even joined in marches and slogans and found that they still need HK’s love after all that they have done. All you will see are families you once knew, simple, decent, educated and with faiths and now you are confused for what they have done.

In 2021 many families were completely disheartened by the situations in HK and they had to make things happen and to change. Many chose freedom than fortune and fame. They found fortune and fame are illusions they never desire. They are not the solutions they promise to be. They started running around and trying everything new though not got impressed at all when they bump into hurdles and struggles.

Physically many have left yet the truth is they never left HK in their hearts throughout their wild and mad days but they still keep their promise to love HK and hope HK still love them.

I hope I am not seen as too sentimental here about the whole thing. The song is simply a metaphor to really describe what is happening in HK and a reminiscence in support of those young families who have to abandon their homes for freedom, something that should not have occurred in a vibrant and open city like HK where people are used to be free to express or to choose what politics they would endorse. HK is quite a different place now and these good things are no long enjoyed.

Don’t cry for me Hong Kong!
